Anna Zoological Park was the first public Zoo [established in 1855] of India with name Vandalur Zoo. In the year 1979 shifted to place isolated from the Reserved Forests of Vandalur. Park is situated at road distance of hardly 15 KM from the airport of the Chennai, where as the distance between the park and city is around 30 KM, so it is accessible with comfort.
Anna Zoological Park is considered as the one of the biggest in South East Asia, covering an area extended to 1265 acres, accommodating 2553 species of flora and fauna including 1500 wild species & 46 endangered species. There are more than 170 species of mammals, Birds and reptiles including 25 species of fishes and 10 species of insects.
