Jaigarh fort, is the most impressive fort among the famous three forts of Jaipur Rajasthan. Build in 1726 by the Maharaja Jaisingh II on a hilltop popularly known as Cheel Ka Teela [Hill of Eagles] in the Aravali range. Jaigarh Fort was constructed as the protection for Amber fort.
Dimensions of the Jaigarh fort are length 3 KM and Width 1 KM. fort is situated on a hill of Araavali range about 400 meters above the Amber fort. The Canon “Jaivana” installed in the fort was the World’s largest Canon [At that time] on the wheels. Jaigarh fort has the same architectural and construction style in which Amber fort was build.
Laxmi Vilas, Lalit Mandir, Vilas Mandir, Aram Mandir etc are the complexes situated within the fort, which also has a beautiful garden and Shubhat Niwas [Assembly Hall]. Subterranean passages connecting Amber & Jaigarh fort was also considered as one complex of the fort.
